Nation-Wide Hunt Begun For Twain Manuscript
A lost Mark Twain manuscript will be the object of a nationwide search this year. The missing manuscript is that of "The Prince and the Pauper," the value of which is estimated from $10,000 to $40,000.
Almost since the book appeared in 1882, the manuscript has been missing. It has not changed hands at an auction sale, no institution is known to possess it, nor is it known to be in any private collection.
The Mark Twain Centennial Committee, headed by President Roosevelt as honorary chairman, has started a search for the manuscript in conjunction with the noted author's centenary, which will be observed this year.
