FRANCE WANTS TO SEE MARK TWAIN'S 'JOAN'

Clara Clemens Gets Invitation to Perform Play in Paris on Bastille Day, July 14.

Clara Clemens, who made her stage debut here last week with a single performance of her father's (Mark Twain's) "Joan of Arc," announced yesterday that she had received an invitation from the French Government, through the Societe des Femmes de France, to give a performance of the play in Paris on Bastille Day, July 14. The society, which is supported by the French Government, has pledged the aid of the leading Parisian artistic and literary bodies in making the event a success.

According to the present plans, Mme. Clemens, accompanied by Ossip Gabrilowitsch, her husband, will sail early in June, taking with her the cast that recently appeared with her in the performance at Hampden's Theatre.
