The San Francisco Daily Morning Call, July 6, 1864

SHIRT STEALING. - James Mitchell, who stole a blue shirt the other night, (we mentioned it at the time,) awaited his doom until yesterday, when he was sentenced to pay a fine of sixty dollars, or go to jail for thirty days. We were not in the Police Court at the time, and cannot say whether there were any ameliorating circumstances in favor of the Court. It stands to reason, though, that Mitchell must have been an old offender, else he would not have had to suffer so severely for so small a crime.
